Nishio is a small town located in the south-central part of Aichi Prefecture, well known for being one of the major production areas of Matcha green tea along with Uji and Kyoto. The quality of Nishio Matcha is highly recognized throughout the country and overseas.
Come and discover the Aoi Sencha Tea production facility, as well as the history of green tea production in Japan. A tasting session will allow you to understand the difference between several types of tea, along with some seasonal Japanese sweets.
This one-day experience starts with a video introduction of the Matcha production process. Your local guide will explain the history of Nishio Matcha to you.
Head to the tea fields where you will be able to take photos while wearing a traditional tea picker outfit.
Take a brief factory tour to watch how the leaves are dried and ground for tea-making. Try grinding the tea yourself to see the hard work necessary to output the fine tea powder.
Brew your cup of Matcha with the guidance of the local tour guide and enjoy the bitter taste together with some seasonal local sweets.
At the end of the tour feel free to buy some green tea souvenirs at the factory shop.
