Be our special guest at the Nagoya Odori, a renowned festival showcasing extraordinary Geisha and Kabuki performances.
“Nagoya Odori” is one of the oldest and most fascinating traditional Japanese Kabuki-style dance and theater performances in Nagoya. It is held annually around mid-October.
Enjoy the impressive visual art, impeccable choreography of the traditional Japanese dances, and the unforgettable stories of some of the “most iconic” theatrical performances in Japan with a modern twist.
Before the show starts a parade of Geisha who have gathered from all corners of Japan will be a chance to witness their grace, skill, and artistry up close.
Meet your host at the JR Tsurumai Station entrance JR, just right in front of Tsurumai Park (and very close to the Tsurumai subway line).
After a brief introduction of the guide and the experience, you will head to the venue.
You will take a walk through the food stalls. It is your chance to get some local treats.
After that, you will watch the Geisha parade and take pictures of their gorgeous Kimono.
Enter the theater and head to your seats. Once in your seat, your host will explain all the things you need to know about the performance to fully enjoy your day.
Time to see a real Geisha and Kabuki-style dance performance. Your expert guide will do an introduction to the Geisha and Kabuki-style dances and the most common dance moves and tools and explain the dances in detail.
Feel free to ask questions about the performance during break times.
Once the performance is finished it is time to leave the venue. Your guide will walk you back to JR Tsurumai Station and/or give you directions to your hotel or any other place you want to visit next.

Sharing Japanese culture with other travelers is such a powerful experience that gives me the chance to bring them closer to the exciting world of Japan’s art performances. I’m an apprentice of Nihon Buyo with more than 3 years of experience dancing traditional pieces. I know how hard it is to understand some parts of the Japanese culture like the traditional performances so I will be very happy to share with you all the secrets of this amazing art.
I’m looking forward to explaining to you everything I know about Nihon Buyo and Japanese dances!
It was a wonderful experience. My husband and I enjoyed the event and guidance by Elizabeth and her team. It was a night to remember. I never saw a kabuki show like this one before with a mix of so many performing styles, old and new. Watching the Geisha from Nagoya, Tokyo and Osaka show case their local dances was so special. Each city’s group had their own unique sense of fashion and style. Thank you so much!
