Just 40 minutes from Nagoya, Tokoname is one of Japan’s renowned Six Ancient Kilns, with over 900 years of ceramic history. Walk the scenic Pottery Footpath, spot dozens of adorable Manekineko (fortune cat) statues, and explore Tokoname’s shipping legacy at the historic Takita Residence.
You’ll visit iconic sites like the Dokan-slope, where pottery shards were used to reinforce the hillsides, and see a real climbing kiln up close.
Finish the tour at a working pottery studio, watching a master potter in action and learning about this time-honored craft.

Yes! This tour is perfect for families. Children usually love spotting the many Manekineko (fortune cats) along the street and enjoy the creative hands-on pottery workshop. The walking distance is short and manageable for most kids.
In light rain, the tour will proceed as planned—please bring appropriate rain gear. In case of severe weather, we may cancel and offer you a full refund or rescheduling options.
