We had a great time with Elisabeth. It was our first visit in Nagoya, so we were excited about the food and the city which we chose as our first stop because we wanted to see another side of Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka aside). Walking around with Elisabeth was very relaxing and she showed us the charming side of Nagoya. She told us a lot about the things we saw on our way and always provided us with interesting facts. We ate delicious seasonal sweets while enjoying a special matcha experience at “Mirume”. Time flew by so fast. Every snack she introduced to us were delicious, especially the egg sandwich was memorable! Every encounter with a local was a pleasant experience for us. After the tour, we continue our walk through the streets and ended up at the lovely store again where lovely products made of glass were sold and got ourselves a souvenir. (Elisabeth, we bought the wallscroll with the shima enaga motif!)

Lena was a fantastic tour guide – patient, knowledgeable and friendly! Being a local, she has experience with this area so the tour was particularly detailed and full of excellent local information.
We visited a small local shrine and she talked about the significance of some of the symbols and the correct way to wash your hands and give offerings.
Then we walked towards the Endoji Shopping Street to stop for some green tea and sweets in a beautiful boutique tea shop. Along the way she pointed out lots of beautiful Japanese gardens and also took us to see a 200 year old Bonsai tree.
I’m not a huge fan of green tea, but this was fantastic. She provided lots of information about the tea and how to drink it and we had a nice chat about Nagoya.
Next we went to the Endoji Shopping Street to try some local street food – Grilled rice on a stick that’s been dipped in red miso sauce (I think it was called Menshi), mochi dango and one of the best egg sandwiches I’ve ever had (not from 711)
I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone staying in Nagoya. Excellent experience!!
Visiting Japan, me and my sons had a 1 night stop in Nagoya.
In the hotel’s lobby we saw that sign that advertised for a 2h tour, on foot, to see a “different Nagoya”, the next morning at 10. We thought it would be a good way to spend our time so we subscribed.
The next morning, we met a lovely Spanish girl who introduced us to the Nagoya she fell in love with.
We learned about temples and shrines, how to pay respect, the peeing sings on the streets, we went to get some unique tea tasting experience directly from the tea producer, we saw small shops with craft-people at work, we learned about the coffee-culture in Japan, at a crossing, we met with 3 majestic figures an cute old man…
If you ask me, this was time well spent.
The tour was very interesting. Our guide spoke English very well and showed us the beautiful hidden sides of Nagoya. We also had a tea experience, which was an experience in itself. If you want to learn more about Nagoya and see the things you normally don’t see, I recommend you this tour!
